Settling in

I did the math and we have been living here on the homestead for 18 days. It’s funny because living in town seems like a another life. Almost like it was another person who was living that life. Today The Hubby and I sat on our swing on our new leveled out spot on the side of Castle Rock and watched the sunset and just talked and relaxed while Princess Girl learned to play volley ball with a college age “niece” who is visiting.

We’ve been settling in nicely, getting our outdoor lovong area set up. As the weather heats up, it’s nice to have something permanently set up so we can cook outside and not heat up the trailer.

We also put a layer of sealant on the roof of the trailer. During the last rainstorm we found a leak in the roof. 😦

The extra roof on top is a snow roof which was put on by the previous owner.

We built a trail up the hill to where we put our Sunset Swing and flattened out an area for the swing.

I didn’t get any pictures of the finished product because by the time we got it all set, the light was gone.

Today, my mom came up and helped set up another shade canopy. This was a free one given to us by some very special people.

Our old-fashioned mending time.

Got the mended outer fabric on. Now time for the poles.

To be continued…

Hi, I'm Maridy. My husband and I and our two girls (ages 12 and 5), along with a tiny dog and a huge dog currently live in a 33ft trailer while we build our house on our homestead property in Northern Nevada (Castle Rock Homestead). My father-in-law also lives with us on the property in his own trailer, and we have a couple flocks of chickens. Join us on our journey to building our high desert homestead from the ground up!
